The Bill Koch Youth Ski League (BKYSL) is a cross-country ski program for boys and girls from 6 through 13 years old (kindergarten - 6th grade). It was founded over 20 years ago by the United States Ski Association and is named for Bill Koch, the 1976 Olympic Silver medalist in the 30 kilometer event. The mission of the New England Bill Koch League is "to introduce young people to the lifelong sport of cross-country skiing with all of its recreational, social, fitness and competitive opportunities". The local club is the basic unit of organization for BKYSL. The clubs meet regularly throughout the ski season to provide opportunities for kids to learn to ski and to improve their skills. "Instruction" is often through relays and other games on skis. The emphasis is on fun. There are also age-appropriate races for those who wish to try racing. These club events are organized and run by volunteers, most often BKYSL parents. Bill Koch Kids Ski Club Tuesdays, 3:30 - 4:45 PM, Dec. 15 to Mar. 16 (NO practice Dec. 29, Feb. 23, & Mar. 2) Join the fun on skis for kids age 6 to 13!
