Firm snow to start, corning up later today
March 12, 2025
We had some real warm temps here yesterday with the thermometers hitting over 60 degrees. Despite the warm snow it was really good skiing. It was surprisingly firm underfoot and under a pole plant. The Klister skiing sure was fun (always is).
When I left here last night at around 6PM, it was still 60 degrees. Right now it is 15 degrees out. About a 45+ degree temp drop in just over 12 hrs. That is pretty ridiculous!
Needless to say, the snow first thing this morning is quite firm. I did some combing out of the skate lanes this morning and with the sun and rising temps, the ski surface should soften up. We lost a good bit of snow yesterday but the coverage out there is still holding strong overall. The skiing will improve throughout the day as things warm and soften. Caution in the shaded areas as they may struggle to soften today. High temps are forecast anywhere from 28 degrees to 36 degrees today.
I would get your skiing in over the next few days. It looks to get warm again tomorrow and Friday and then the weekend is forecast to be really warm and rainy starting Sunday. Saturday may or may not have some skiing so we shall just have to see. Today is day #94 for the season. Not too shabby.
Come up and get your glide on! "Carpe Skiem" people.
